BIOGRAPHY

ABOUT MY MUSIC:
My father was a big band sax player who introduce me early in life to the classic jazz pieces of the 1930's, 40's, and 50's.  My brother (who is 8 years older) introduced me to the classic rock artists of the 1960's.  As a result, I grew up listening to all kinds of music. During the early years in school I played violin and trombone, but switched to guitar after listening to Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Wes Mongomery, Roy Buchanan and Frank Zappa.  All of these artists influenced my style of playing.  I refined my skills while in college playing everything from bluegrass to jazz.  In the early 1980's I was in a touring band that performed 5 days a week.  Over the years I have played across the country in countless bands including musical pit orchestras, 1930's-40's big bands, classic rock bands, blues bands, jazz combos, folk groups, and bands backing up various tribute artists.  I cite my two strengths as improvisational skills on guitar and composing music.  I have been lucky enough to have some of my music played on radio stations from coast to coast and several of my songs have been included in full length idependant films.  I was also co-composer for the play "Next Stop Spinsterland" a production that had a long run in the Chicago Theatre District.  I do a lot of studio session work every month and have engineered and produced many CD's for other artists.  Over the years I have released multiple CD's showcasing my original music.

ABOUT MY ART:

My influences are many, but I have always been a fan of animation, cartooning, and distorting perspectives.  I love caricatures of people/animals, silly sarcasm and color.  I often do the “art process” backwards.  I'd find or choose a frame first, and then decide what should go in it.  Titles often play heavy in my art with puns and spelling.  I hope you have a sense of humor because I have fun messing with the viewer.  Included here, in no particular order, is a cross section of art I have produced over the years.  Good or bad, like or dislike… Here it is.
